Aurelia co-hosting the Humans in Space Symposium at Ascend 2023
Aurelia Institute is thrilled to co-host the Humans in Space Symposium alongside Boryung and Axiom Space at ASCEND 2023, October 23-25 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Boryung, a leading healthcare investment company, has announced its partnership with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) to bring the Humans In Space (HIS) Symposium to the upcoming 2023 ASCEND event. Powered by AIAA, ASCEND – which stands for Accelerating Space Commerce, Exploration, and New Discovery – is a collaborative, outcomes-driven, interdisciplinary event, held this year from October 23-25 at Caesars Forum in Las Vegas.
Aurelia Institute and Axiom Space are co-hosts of Humans in Space, a global challenge calling for innovative solutions and research on the challenges of sustained human life in space. Aurelia’s leadership team has been lending their expertise through all stages of the Challenge phase. At the Humans in Space Symposium in October, selected Challenge finalists will have an opportunity to present their pitches onstage to a panel of judges, which will include Dr. Ariel Ekblaw, Aurelia’s co-founder and CEO.
HIS finalists will receive expert mentorship and opportunities for growth through the Space Expansion Program and will be invited to take the stage at ASCEND. Winners of the Humans in Space Challenge, selected at the Symposium, will go on to receive investment funding or research awards.
“As the premier conference bringing together researchers, industry giants, and entrepreneurs across burgeoning space fields, ASCEND is an ideal place for the Humans in Space finalists to present their work and make connections that supercharge their companies and reach far into their careers,” says Ekblaw. “Humans in Space provides an important value in a fast-growing industry: a combination of mentorship and investment in cutting-edge emerging technologies. I’m so pleased that Aurelia Institute has been able to help facilitate this co-location at ASCEND and lend our expertise to the Humans in Space participants.”
ASCEND brings together over 2,000 distinguished professionals from academic, private, and government sectors worldwide. The event spans 200+ sessions including keynotes, panel discussions, interactive roundtables, and debates. Dr. Ekblaw will also be speaking on the Founders Panel at ASCEND as part of her Guiding Coalition leadership for AIAA, and will be moderating Aurelia’s annual space architecture panel: Next Generation Space Habitats. Boryung Chairman and CEO Jay Kim will also speak on the Ascend mainstage.
"We are pleased that Boryung will add such a valuable perspective and interactive element to the unique ASCEND experience this year,” said AIAA Executive Director Dan Dumbacher. “We look forward to welcoming the global community of dreamers and doers who will share their visions of the potential for people living and working in space in the coming years. The outlook for our sustainable off-world future is bright.”
